This week in Crafts: Students started designing their culturally themed patterns/layouts for a kiln carving project. Don't know what kiln carving is? A couple of examples are located in this image gallery. They were examples made by a previous class, though. We will be posting more progress pictures as this project continues!
Here's an update on what we're doing in class! Students created designs based off of inspirational quotes, and created them using copper inclusion techniques. Once we fire it in the kiln, copper encased in the glass will remain orange, and copper outside of it will become oxidized! Ask the students what that means!
Students in Mrs. R's Crafts class should print out the Course Description below and return it signed by Friday, 1/23. Please also try to get your material fees in as soon as you can. Thanks for your attention to this!
Welcome to the new semester, the new year, and a whole new beginning painting class! I hope you will enjoy your time with me, and enjoy learning how to draw. Please keep an eye on this blog, as I will be uploading images of your work here. Then you can share it with your friends and family!
Don't forget, work that is high quality and sends a good message may be picked for display in our end of the year art show. So do your best work, because it may be featured! |
