Students have also been working on creating leather masks in crafts class. These masks are made of pig-leather, and were cut, shaped using heat and water, and then painted using acrylic paints.
Students created kiln carvings after researching visual elements from various cultures. Students were required to create their own design that represented a culture, and to make a kiln carving of it. We only have one small glass kiln, so these will take a while to fire. I'll upload more examples as they're fired. Some of these pieces may need to be sanded down and re-fired.
When students finish painting their leather mask, they should spend class time completing a research project. These are the specifications for that research project:
Mosaics and Fused Glass Research Project -Students should type this in MS Word and print it, to turn in to Mrs. O on Monday. -Students should use proper spelling, punctuation, and grammar in their written work. -Students should use complete sentences to write what they learned about the following topics. -Responses should be a minimum of two sentences, but may be more. -Make sure your name is at the top. Prompts Provide a short, written history about the following subjects: -Mosaic art. -Fused glass art. Describe the process of creating these types of work: -Mosaic art. -2 famous mosaic artists. -Fused glass art. Explain the difference between: -Hot glass. -Cool glass. Find images online and paste them into your word document. The images should be of your 5 favorite mosaic artworks, and your 5 favorite fused glass artworks. Print this document out and turn it in to Mrs. O at the beginning of class on Monday. |
